Vanderbilt Too Reliant On 3s?

Feb 26, 2011 5:50 PM

Vanderbilt, which ranks 79th in three-pointers attempted (566) and 25th in three-point shooting percentage (38.7), hit just 3 of its 16 three-point attempts in Tuesday’s loss to Tennessee. A season-low point total followed.

Vanderbilt 's has attempted 21.5 threes over its past ten games.

For his part coach Coach Kevin Stallings said he is not concerned with his team's dependency on 3s. But he is concerned about getting to the foul line, where Vanderbilt averages an SEC-best 25.4 attempts.

"We've got to do a better job of getting the ball to places where we complement our 3-point shooting instead of depend on it," Stallings said.

Florida Outlasts Vanderbilt In Overtime

Feb 2, 2011 7:06 AM

No. 23 Florida outlasted No. 24 Vanderbilt in overtime on Tuesday night in a battle of ranked teams.

Kenny Boynton scored 15 points for the Gators, the last of them coming on the clutch three to put the team ahead for good. The shot put Florida up 63-61.

John Jenkins, the SEC's leading scorer, got a decent look on the other end. But he shot an air ball with Boynton guarding him.

"He doesn't shoot many air balls," Vandy coach Kevin Stallings said. "I've watched him play for a long time and I haven't seen many air balls come off that kid's hand."
